More tea, vicar?

My name is Alison, I'm 21 years old, Australian, and a little bit technologically inept. I like books, so that could be why. I know just enough to have this blog so thanks for stumbling across it.

I post pretty randomly, there's no particular rhyme or reason to it. You will see Supernatural, Harry Potter, X-Men: First Class, Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, Suits, Doctor Who, Sherlock, The Avengers, Avatar the last Airbender and Legend of Korra, Downton Abbey, Batman, Ghibli, Disney and various animated movies, occasional hipster lomo photos, personal posts and rants, art I like, music I listen to, some movie reviews, animals, feminism, lgbt support, and very occasionally a drawing by me, just to name a few things.

I always wonder if Sam and Dean are just like impervious to aids or something. They never talk about it and they never hesitate to get their hands bloody, I know it’s hard not to in their line of work but I dunno, I just wonder about it.

Normally I would agree, but I have to words to invalidate all this:
Gordon Walker.

I have to disagree here. Yes I found him really annoying but as the OP of this secret says, he had a purpose in the show. He was there to show Dean that Sam was becoming dangerous and that if he wasn’t Dean’s brother then Dean would be hunting Sam like a monster. I acknowledge that this probably went on for a bit long and his character was annoying but there was a reason for that. I wrote about it in my supernatural family post, so I’m just gonna go ahead and shamelessly copy paste myself:
All [Sam and Dean] do is insult him and call him a psychopath and a dickhead, which yes he may be, but they never even seem to comment on why this might be. He had to kill his own sister. Can you imagine what that does to a person? Not everyone can just bury everything down and turn everything into a joke like Dean. Some people crack. And it doesn’t make them any less of a person. I realise that there’s not much anyone can do for Gordon, it’s not like he can go and get professional help and be all like “my sister turned into a vampire so I had to kill her” and him trying to kill Sam did get old pretty quickly… but still. They definitely passed over the fact very quickly.
So yeah. You can hate on Gordon Walker all you want but this secret is not necessarily about liking characters. It’s about respecting characters for having a purpose on the show.

supernatural and family.

I don’t know if this is called an “unpopular opinion” or what, but probably since it’s something that I don’t like about Supernatural it’ll definitely be unpopular to some people :P

I find it annoying how Sam and Dean belittle everyone else’s family bonds/relationships whatever, while expecting everyone to understand and expecting everything to revolve around their brother relationship. Here are just a couple examples off the top of my head and a couple of specifics that came up during my re-watch:

4x09 I Know What You Did Last Summer
I really really liked how they set up this scene.
It was when I really wanted to trust Ruby, and Dean was trying hard to after Sam tells him she saved his life. I think he might have even been about to defend her when Uriel calls her a stain, because right then he’s their common enemy and the bigger bully.
I just really like the placement and camera shots and stuff because it’s like the pre-team-free-will… instead it’s team-lilith’s-head-on-a-plate and they are standing together against the dick angels.
In 4x07 (It’s the Great Pumpkin, Sam Winchester), Castiel said “In the coming months, you will have more decisions to make. I don’t envy the weight that’s on your shoulders, Dean. I truly don’t.” And this time around I was just thinking ‘Oh Cas, just you wait, you’re going to be making decisions, and the weight is going to be on your shoulders too.’
So little does he know, Cas is soon going to be standing on the other side of that room. It’s going to be team-free-will against the dick angels, and Cas will be fighting against Uriel and Zachariah.
And it shows their heights really well and it’s actually kind of cute watching the second time round after knowing about Jared and Genevieve and everything.
I just like it okay.

And yes I did make this by taking screen shots, opening them up in preview, lining them up on my screen and taking another screen shot. Who needs photoshop?
